Running Bliss

Today I have one of those runs.  A magical one.  The kind that just goes wonderfully and allows you to truly ENJOY the run!  I dropped my daughter off at her writing class (we homeschool and she takes a writing class taught by my friend and Pastor’s wife, Carol) then I headed to the park to run the trail.

I have been doing the Run Walk Run Method by Jeff Galloway and today it really paid off.  I felt strong even to the end, in fact, I sprinted the last .10 of the last mile.  I hit my intervals evenly (sometimes I miss my Garmin beeping because of my music lol) and so my splits were all nice and even!

But aside from all of that, I just felt great!!  From the start I felt strong, and I was still feeling that way at the end.  I cannot explain it, I just haven’t had that happen before.  I truly felt amazing!    This is why I love running! These moments like this.   I know that it was all God.  He is the one pushing me along.  It was because of Him.

And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.   Romans 5: 3-5

I had a great breakfast, and I slept well and God just allowed me to rock this run!! It was amazing!  The funny thing was, it was REALLY windy today, and cold, but the first 2.5 miles I ran into the wind, once a gust hit me from the side and just about knocked me over!  However, on the way back it was to my back and it was like God just had my back and was pushing me along, saying, “You got this my child, keep going”   He is so good!

I PR’d for this distance too!!  By almost 4 minutes! Last time it was 1:00:48 and today’s run was 56:50.  It was really enjoyable too, to be on the trail in the middle of the day, when hardly anyone else was on it, but also to not be dodging a bunch of ice.  My last run, on Tuesday, was all that.  Just dodging ice and trying not to fall down.  Which also contributed to my slower time I’m sure.  I was very proud of how steady my splits were.  Consistency is not my strong suit.  So it was nice to see that, knowing that I am keeping my speed at a constant, rather than all over the place :)

After that I picked Abby up from her class, chatted with Carol and then came home.  We then ran to Costco so we could buy goodies for the Super Bowl Party!  We have some friends coming over.

So rewind a few days, since I haven’t updated y’all.

Monday I sucked it up and ran Sunday’s miles, 3 miles on the books (35:33)

Tuesday  I ran 5. Dodging ice the whole time.  I ran all over the neighborhood.  My GPS map looked rather hilarious! (1:00:48)  I also worked at Informed choices from 12-4, then I had clients come over to see/order their photos.

Wednesday was rest day.  I spent most of my morning at the VA hospital, hubby had a stress test, then we went out for Chinese for lunch.  Later I went to the gym with Carol and then Bible study at the church.  We started a new Women’s Bible Study and I have been feeling like I needed to be going.  Like the Lord was telling me to go.   Ralph slept all afternoon after his test, it really took a lot out of him, so he stayed home instead of going to the men’s study.

I haven’t been taking photos lately, so I don’t have much to share.   Especially on today’s run, since I had to fit 5 miles into my daughter’s one hour class, I was so focused I didn’t even pull out my phone to take photos.

I’ll leave you with this bit of inspiration today
