Ultimate Coffee Date {May Edition}

Good morning!!  So glad to be joining the Ultimate Coffee Date again this month.   Linking up with Coco from Running with Perseverance,  Deborah from Confessions of a Mother Runner and Lynda from Running All The Miles.

If we were having coffee this morning I think we would both agree that we cannot believe it’s May already.  Where did April go?  We would head from my living room door to the kitchen so we could both grab a cup of coffee!

If we were having Coffee this morning I would tell you that I have to leave in about a half hour to drive to Cedar Rapids, IA and photograph the Girls on the Run 5K.  I am so excited to be their lead volunteer photographer this year!  I get to combine my two favorite things….Photography and running!  It doesn’t get much better than that.

I would also share about how my daughter was supposed to go with me and use her camera as well to take photos, until she broke her wrist on Wednesday evening at Youth Group.  Yup, she fractured it in two places and now she’s wearing a big splint that goes all the way past her elbow.  She goes in to the Orthopedic place on Monday to have a real cast put on and will be unable to do much for 4 weeks.  Sadly, it is the hand she writes with, so this will make school work very hard.  At least this school year will be coming to a close though, so I guess that’s the silver lining.

If we were having coffee I would tell you how my son got his very first job this week!  He’s going to be a cashier at HyVee Food Stores.  It’s a very large grocery store chain here in the midwest.  I’m so proud of him!  He will go in for orientation on the 16th from 5-10pm.   If he “passes” that, which I am sure he will, then he will be an employed kid! YAY!

Speaking of employment, I actually applied for a full time position at Fareway, which is another grocery store chain located in the Midwest.  Mainly Iowa.  I worked there before both kids were born, and left when we had Abby.   I am so comfortable as a SAHM, but sometimes, you need $$ to pay bills!   Todd (the manager) didn’t have any positions open right now, but he’s just going to hang onto my application.  I worked there for over 5 yrs, so I hope that is enough to get me back in the door.   I have really mixed feelings about going back to work, but I know what whatever God wants me to do He will allow.  It is all in His hands. Proverbs 3:5-6

If we were having coffee, I would also tell you that I am freaking out a little that my first half marathon is THIS MONTH!!  Only two weeks away!!! EEEK!!  Today I run 12 miles and then I taper.  The next two weeks are less miles, especially next Saturday, when I only run 6.  Never in my life would I have thought that I would say “only 6″.  What happened to me?

If we were having coffee I would tell you that our Kia Sorento died.  I mean died.  Dead.  She needs a whole new engine.  So she’s at the shop, the engine has been ordered and hopefully I’ll get her back in a few weeks.   We opted to replace the engine rather than buy a new car.  We would be spending about the same amount, and we really love that Kia.  It will be like having a brand new car when he’s all done with it!!    I wonder if he’d be ok with me taking photos of it with the engine pulled out and him working on it…I’ll have to ask him on Sunday at church.  That would be a fun blog post :)

Well, that’s all for me this month!  I have to say good bye so I can get ready to leave for the GOTR race!

Talk to you all next month.  I had a blast this month!!   Come join us at the links above!
