Weekend Update {Link Up} #1

Happy Monday everyone! I’m linking up this morning with Tara at Running-n-Reading.  This is my first time linking up with this link up!  I love reading about what people did over their weekends…so I thought it would be a fun one!

My weekend started out with some shopping Thursday night when I found these leggings at Walmart.  I also realized that I’m getting quite obsessed over stickers, pens and washi tape (and journals, etc) for my planner!!  I am having so much fun though!

Friday evening, we had dinner & a movie with some good friends of ours.  We had spaghetti with garlic bread and then we watched McFarland USA.  LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie!!   The mom of this lovely family made a strawberry-lemonade jello poke cake that was to die for.  Sorry I didn’t get any pics!   They got to our house late because they went to Verizon first and that took 2 hours when they expected it to only take one.  So it was a late dinner.  We ended up starting the movie and then eating while we were watching.  Which was ok.  It just made for a late night, but it was so much fun!

Saturday we just chilled around the house most of the morning, then around 1:30 I went to the gym so I could run my 6 miles.  With the heat index of over 100, I was NOT running my long run outside!  So off to Planet Fitness I went.  I *almost* got my 6 miles in before the treadmill goes into cool down mode.  It will only run for an hour. GRRR.  So I got 5.43 miles in.  I wasn’t going to bother jumping treadmills to get in another 1/2 mile.  It was all good.

Following my run I came home, showered, made a protein smoothie and then headed to the church to help set up for a surprise party my friend was throwing for her mom & dad (our Pastor and his wife).   After that I came home, changed clothes yet again to get dressed up for the party.

At 6:45 that evening we all packed into the church for a Surprise Vow Renewal/Reception!  Katherine, their eldest daughter, set this all up, I was so proud of her, to honor her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary!  It went so well.  They were a little late, but otherwise, it went off without a hitch.  (well, one hitch, but that already happened 25yrs ago haha)   These pics are the only ones I have edited so far.    Carol’s dad went over the vows with them, and he married them as well, all those years ago.  Such a blessing.  Then their eldest son, David read scripture.  Such a beautiful thing to see the kids all involved.  They had a beautiful reception downstairs following as well.  Including a 3 tier cake that had their original wedding cake topper on it!   Katherine asked me if I would be willing to take photos.  Why, of course!!  How could I say no?  I absolutely adore Carol, Chris and their family.  Carol is one of my closest and very best friends.

Such a beautiful example of God’s love for us and His design for marriage.

But God’s plan was seen from the beginning of creation, for ‘He made them male and female.’ ‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one separate them, for God has joined them together.  Mark 10:6-9

Sunday when we woke up Abby was saying she wasn’t feeling so good, so Ryan and I went to Sunday school and Ralph stayed home with Abby so she could rest longer.  Then they came later for worship.  The Poland Team came back last week so we heard  stories from their trip for our message.  So awesome to hear how God worked while they were over there.   They are thinking about planning another trip  there for next summer, I’m praying I can go next time.

We had a potluck meal to welcome them home after worship.  Church meals are always the best!!

Sunday afternoon Ryan and I went on about a 7 mile bike ride.  I was supposed to run 3 miles, but my hip was hurting, I think it was my treadmill run on Saturday, so I figured a bike ride is still a work out, and it would be easier on my hip.  That night we made BBQ pork ribs, beans and mashed tators….oh my. So good!  My hubby is the best cook ever!

How was your weekend?  Did you do anything extra special?
